What is Agile Octopus?
Agile Octopus is Octopus Energy's dynamic electricity tariff, with a unit rate that changes every half hour to track wholesale market prices. Tracktopus fetches these rates live from Octopus's public API for your selected UK grid region, inc. VAT.
How does Agile compare to Flexible Octopus (the standard tariff)?
Every Agile slot is compared against the Flexible Octopus standard variable rate (VAR-22-11-01) for your region, fetched live from the Octopus API. Flexible Octopus tracks the Ofgem price cap and updates quarterly, in January, April, July and October. The % vs SVT figure shows whether each Agile slot is cheaper (green) or more expensive (red) than Flexible Octopus for the same region.
How often do prices update, and when does tomorrow's data appear?
Octopus typically publishes the next day's Agile rates around 4pm. Tracktopus fetches the latest prices whenever you open the page or press Refresh.
Is Tracktopus official, and can I rely on it for switching decisions?
No, this is a personal hobby project, built out of curiosity and shared freely, with no affiliation to Octopus Energy. Data is pulled from their public API but may be delayed, incorrect, or unavailable at any time. Do not rely on this for financial decisions.
